In Saudi Arabia, leaving Islam to become a Christian is so fraught with danger that many choose to keep their faith secret.
A man who knows these dangers well is Adam. Not only did he take the bold step of giving his life to Jesus, he incurred the wrath of his wider family by helping his sister-in-law, Eve, to flee the country because she was facing persecution for following Jesus. To many in Saudi society, the two of them had committed one of the biggest sins a Muslim can commit – leaving Islam.
Because of these brave decisions, Adam has been imprisoned, whipped and threatened with death. Following his most recent court case, Adam was fined the equivalent of around £56,000, having been found guilty of a theft charge he had earlier been acquitted of. Failure to pay the fine will result in a prison sentence. He is already waiting to serve a three-month sentence under the charge of inciting others away from Islam. And further consequences may yet follow as he awaits the outcome of a court case linked to his role in helping Eve escape the country.
Will you write to Adam? He'd love to hear from you! You can also write to his his wife and son.
