Vegetable cart empowers Geetika and provides for her family

God is moving in India, with many people coming to know Jesus, often after being miraculously healed of sickness. But in many such cases, persecution follows. This is true of Geetika, a single mother. But she is standing firm in her faith, and with your support, her business is doing better than ever.

Geetika

Geetika says the new vegetable cart has empowered her family

Geetika* is happy. Since becoming a Christian, after being miraculously healed of an illness, the single mother of two from India has faced hostility from local people who don’t believe Indians should be Christian. But because she knows Jesus, she has found true peace, and your support is helping her provide a healthy living for her family.

"Because Jesus is with me, I am ready to face everything" 'Geetika'

“I thought I had faced enough challenges in life and that, when I came to Jesus, everything would be okay, but this was not the case,” she shares. “Instead, I faced ridicule for my faith in Jesus. But I have to say, this opposition is nothing compared to the miserable life I had lived without Jesus. Because Jesus is with me, I am ready to face everything. No problem is too great.”

“I know people say all the wrong things about Christians and Jesus, but I do not worry,” she continues. “All I know is that I was healed, and my life is full of peace – a peace that I have never known before. Even now, when the criticism of others makes me feel sad or when I fall sick, I ask my daughter to read the Bible and then call up my pastor to pray for me.”

Healthy and happy

After seeing Geetika’s struggles, Open Doors local partners provided her with a vegetable cart, enabling her to expand her business by reaching more people and so become more self-sufficient – and already it’s making a massive difference to her family.

"They helped empower us, and we are so grateful" 'Geetika'

“Before I had the cart, I used to sell vegetables in a small shed,” Geetika explains. “Now I can take it to various places and the earnings are more than before. I thank Open Doors partners for this initiative. I can provide healthy food for my children, and I am happy.”

“However, I must work hard,” she continues. “I go to the vegetable market every morning at 4am to purchase vegetables. The vegetables that I buy, I sell for the next two to three days for good profit most of the time. I am so glad my son is also growing up – he helps me sell the vegetables in the evenings. I am thankful to the Lord for all His blessings.

“What Open Doors partners have done for us is not what everyone can do in today's world. They listened to our concerns and purchased things that helped our earnings grow. They helped empower us, and we are so grateful. Thank you so much.”
