FAQs

First of all, think about which type of challenge you’d like to take on. You might like to join an Open Doors event or create your own. Whether it’s walking, baking, sewing or clearing out your cupboards, you can do what you love to serve your persecuted family. You might find it helps to have a look at what other supporters have been doing for inspiration or to browse through our suggested ideas.
Next, tell us what you’re up to by registering your challenge. We’d love to see your progress and to pray for you as you reach your goal.
Finally, create your JustGiving page and share it with as many people as possible. If it’s the first time you’re fundraised it’s normal to find it daunting but we’re here to share the journey with you – do drop us an email at any point.

Absolutely! Just register your event and then set up your JustGiving page. We’ll get in touch with you and send you an Open Doors T-shirt that you can wear to your event.

If you’re running or cycling you’ll also have the opportunity to order a T-shirt when you register your challenge. Finally, we’ll always be happy to respond to any queries you may have by email or to chat or pray with you over the phone.

Social media is a great tool to share what you are doing with friends and family and you can find lots of advice on this when you set up your JustGiving page. In general, keeping it personal by sharing lots about why you are fundraising, what has drawn you to the persecuted church and what you are doing to meet your goal will really help engage your friends and family. Update your posts regularly, thank your supporters and use our downloadable resources (See below) to get the word out. Oh, and don’t underestimate the impact of word of mouth, perhaps by sharing in church, small group or in work.

You can order resources on our website and we have some great videos that you can download easily to share with friends or in church. And the good news is they’re all free!

If you are joining a running or cycling event with an Open Doors place, we’ll ask you to commit to a minimum fundraising target which differs depending on the event. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you reach your goals! Otherwise, if we haven’t specified, you can choose your own target. Aim high. You’ll be amazed at how your friends and family will support you!

If you have set up a JustGiving page then the gift aid donations will reach Open Doors automatically without you needing to do anything more. If you have cash donations, we recommend you download a sponsor form and ask your donor to tick the gift aid box if they are eligible. Then just include your sponsor form when you send us the cheques and we’ll do the rest!

We recommend setting up a JustGiving page as the quickest and easiest way to fundraise. As long as you have selected Open Doors UK as your charity, the money will come to us without you needing to do anything more. Facebook is also an easy way to set up a fundraiser and share instantly with your friends. If you have cash donations or sponsor forms, pop them in an envelope with details of your name, address and fundraiser and send them to our lovely Supporter Services team. Currently, we don’t have any facility for you to pay your money in online but we’re working on it so watch this space!

Absolutely! Whether it’s through writing letters, volunteering at an event, joining a prayer group or speaking out, we have lots of opportunities to get involved in serving your persecuted family. We look forward to seeing what you get up to!
